JOHN H. HOWELL
TREASURER, UNITED BLACK MEN OF QUEENS Foundation, Inc.
As Executive Director of UBMQ and Program Lead for the New Visions Advance Math and Science High School’s Mentoring program, it’s been an honor to serve in both roles. The impact that UBMQ has made on the community and the mentees has been life changing and for that I am forever grateful. In the beginning the primary goal of the program was to reduce out of school suspensions, increase attendance, decrease lateness, instill a value of academic success and ensure an on time high school graduation rate of 80% for those young men known to the UBMQ mentoring program. Our new goal is 100% college admission and post-secondary education. Being an agent for positive change is a badge of honor that I proudly wear on behalf of UBMQ.
